Student Selection Criteria

The following is the recommended selection criteria for students entering EAOPrograms:

UC Bound students must have a 3.3 GPA, with 4 A-Gs in progress. These students must also be enrolled in Algebra, Geometry or Integrated Math II or equivalent. “Moving GPA Cut-off” can be applied depending on school performance and academic quality of student population. Students selected at the 9th or 10th grade level with above criteria.

To be enrolled in EAOP, a student must meet at least ONE of the following criteria:  UC Bound Students (leave this one the same), other criteria from EAOP system wide website:

1. Low family income

  • Eligibility for UC application fee waiver
  • Eligibility for the Free or Reduced Price lunch program
  • Federal guidelines

2. Attending a school with limited college prep curriculum

  • School has four or fewer AP Courses, and school does not have at least one AP course in each of these areas:
  • Math
  • Science
  • English
  • Language other than English

3. The first in one's family to attend college (first generation)

The custodial parent does not have a baccalaureate degree from a US school or equivalent; and/or neither parent has a baccalaureate degree from a US school or equivalent.

4. Residence in a community with low college-going rates

Less than state average by school district.

5. Attending a school with below-average SAT/ACT exam scores

School average SAT I/ACT test scores are below the 50th percentile for California schools

6. Particpant in a Community-Based Organization (CBO) serving low-income communities and/or communities with low college-going rates

Less than state average by school district
