COSMOS – The California State Summer School
for Mathematics & Science @ UC Davis
The mission of COSMOS is to motivate the most creative minds
of the new generation of prospective scientists, engineers,
and mathematicians who will become leaders of California,
the nation, and the world. The program aims to create a
community of students who participate in and contribute
to an intensive academic experience delivered by distinguished
educators and scholars.

Constitutional Rights Foundation
The Youth Internship Program (YIP) places qualified urban
students as paid interns in law firms, businesses, government
offices, and non-profit organizations. Open to sophomores
and juniors during their out-of-school months, the program
is offered three times a year to accommodate students in
Los Angeles’ year-round school systems. Approximately
120 students participate each year. Each paid internship
program lasts eight weeks. Students work at job sites for
six out of the eight weeks. During the first and last week
and every Friday of each program, YIP participants take
part in educational seminars.

Stanford University Mathematics Camp
Goals: To bring mathematically talented and motivated high-school
students from across the United States, and fro around the
world, to Stanford university for four weeks of serious
mathematical pursuits. – To provide access for these
students to advanced topics in mathematics, in a way that
is fun and interesting. – To lead these students through
topics that are of great significance in the historical
development of mathematics, that are important to current
lines of mathematical research, and that have applications

The Youth Educators Program Fellowship is geared towards

The Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project, Inc.
All California high school students currently in the 10th
and 11th grade are invited to apply. It is a week-long leadership
training conference in Sacramento. The conference provides
valuable information on Chicano/Latino culture and history
through personal experiences of presenters and their study
of related topics. The leadership training is presented
so that students can take what they learn back to their

Academic Connections @ UCSD
Academic Connections is an opportunity for young students
(grades 9-12) to explore the best the University of California,
San Diego has to offer. Eligible students can take advantage
of this exciting summer program held on the UCSD campus,
courses are three-weeks long, and students enroll in only
one course. Courses are designed to be an in depth exploration
of particular topics and are more workshop style rather
then the more traditional lecture format.

Each summer, Harvard Summer School offers high school sophomores,
juniors, and seniors an extraordinary chance to sample college.

ESRP (Engineering Summer Residency Program)
The purpose of the week-long Engineering Summer Residency
Program (ESRP) is to give 60 high school students from populations
traditionally under-represented in engineering the opportunity
to explore engineering education through first-hand university
instruction and laboratory experience. The students live
in the residence halls and participate in laboratories,
lectures, design competitions, writing exercises, field
trips, and college application workshops.
